Great deals and value, you can a really decent amount of food for low cost. Chicken is always amazing.
In this review, I went to Favorites to order the imfamous "Wingin' it" offer for around £12 for 2 boxes of chicken (roughly 8 in each), 2 bags of chips, 2 pots of beans and a single pot of coleslaw.
The packaging was neat and presentable, not to mention sustainable as they used a lot of paper bags, therefore that's already a one up on most companies and their carbon foot print. The chicken box itself had a neat mechanism that stopped the chicken toppling out which I respect greatly.
CHIPS: They were, to be plainly honest, quite average. Each one had uniform texture (soft, yet crispy on the outside) throughout the bag. Eating them was like ordering chips from any fast food restaurant and munching on them - nothing too amazing. I was quite surprised to see a little salt bag in the chip bag itself so that you can adjust how much salt you want to consume. A 7/10 for the chips.
COLESLAW: Much like the chips, the coleslaw was still quite average. It's as if they took a pot of coleslaw from Aldi, stuffed it in a container with the Favorite chicken logo, then sold it. There was no difference between the store bought coleslaw and the Favorite chicken's one. 5/10 average.
BEANS: Now these were quite nice, especially when they were so fete and warm. You got your average canned baked beans submerged in some sort of orange liquid you'd get from any store, but these beans were above that. They seemed to be peri peri beans (of which I absolutely adore seeing as I do tend to edge towards foods that are spicy). I just wished they added more beans than liquid. A solid 8.5/10.
CHICKEN: For the grand finale. The chicken is, undoubtedly, one of the best chicken I've ever had. It wasn't the chicken itself that was so critical in my decision to say that statement, but the flakes surrounding the chicken truly carried the whole thing to victory. The sheer flavour (a sprinkle of spiciness with a taste of a nutty delight) and crunch produced by the flakes gave a whole new meaning to the word 'chicken'. The chicken itself was easy to peel off the bone whilst entire bones could be removed with little effort - more so when they were relatively narrow. Whenever I did remove the bones, it was simply reflex that forced my body to nibble off the excess chicken with the flakes off the bones. They were simply too tasty to pass up. My only problem was that this chicken is definitely a mysophobe's nightmare. The mess the flakes made when they dropped off the chicken was too abundant - the point was proven when I looked into the chicken box to see a load of flakes accumulated at the bottom. The chicken is absolutely not a food you want to be eating in the car unless you want to create a mess, however, this doesn't stop the chicken from tasting like heaven. That being said, I am unable to compare it to other companies chicken as I've never ordered chicken from elsewhere so a comparison cannot be made. All in all, the chicken is a 9/10.
